The publication of this album puts into greater light an unjustly forgotten composer, an eclectic and full rounded musician who contributed in many ways to the development of French music in the 20th century. José David was born on January 6th 1913 in the Sables-d'Olonne, and died in Juan-les-Pins in 1993. A prolific composer, deeply attached to his home country and open to the music of his time, his natural idiom was nonetheless largely inherited from the musical languages of the Romantics and of the composers of the Belle Epoque.
