This course focuses entirely on idioms. There are similar terms, which have very subtle differences. Here is a brief explanation of some of the similar terms

Phrase = a small group of words that expresses an idea

Expression = an informal phrase related to an expressed action/feeling

Saying = a phrase made from memorable words

Proverb = a well-known, wise saying often from folklore/religion giving advice

Colloquialism = an informal expression used in spoken conversation

Idiom = a saying whose meaning should not be seen as literal

Taking this course on idioms is a smart thing to do because learning idioms can help you sound more like a native English speaker. The idioms are explained in context by a native English speaker. There are many opportunities to practice what you learn, and the course is fun!
